Wisconsin's GOP Chair on Mass Shootings
Tuesday, August 20th, 2019 -- 10:52 AM
(WRN) -What's to be done, about mass shootings? Here's Andrew Hitt, the new chair of the Republican Party of Wisconsin
"You know, first and foremost I think we need to recognize what we all agree on, which is, these tragedies are horrific. I think we can agree that there is no magic wand that will make them all go away. Um, and, you know this isn't normal behavior that is going on. Normal, well people don't do this."
Universal background checks have polled strongly with the public, but Republicans at the state and federal level have blocked that, preferring to address shootings as a mental health issue. Hitt was on WKOW TV's "Capitol City Sunday."
