Reports at Owen City Council Meeting

-The Owen City Council heard some reports at their meeting last week.The council heard the July 2019 Treasurer’s Report, the July 2019 Police Report and the July Public Works Report. The Public Works Report cleaned up a lot of storm damage throughout the month. They also heard two opinions from city residents under the public opinion portion of the meeting. The council also heard the Finance Committee Report. A representative with Central States Team Care, was present to answer questions from the Finance Committee and City employees regarding the C6 Teamcare Benefit Plan the city is considering. The Finance Committee will be holding another meeting before making its recommendation to the Council.
The council also approved the recommendation of the Personnel Committee to hire Chad Smith as their new Director of Public Works. Matt Bottlemy has been promoted to the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator and his job, Public Works Maintenance Technician, is to be posted immediately. Finally, a Lions’ Club member told the council that the Lions would like to donate money to the city to pay for updates to the open-air shelter at the Mill Pond Park that included enclosing the ceiling, LED lighting and electrical upgrades.
