The Clark County Board of Supervisors Hears Reports at Meeting Thursday

Saturday, August 17th, 2019 -- 8:10 AM

The Clark County Board of Supervisors heard several reports to start their meeting on Thursday.

The board heard an update on Marshfield Medical Center-Neillsville’s new facility, an report on the past year from the Clark County Economic Development Corporation and Tourism Bureau, the 2018 UW-Extension Report, the 2018 Annual Highway Report and the 2018 Annual Forestry Report. The board also approved some appointments to the board of health. For resolutions, the board approved a resolution eliminating the 0% levy cap imposed on Wisconsin counties. Since the law was put into effect by the state of Wisconsin in 2012, Clark County has struggled with having to absorb inflationary increases in normal operating expenditures with no offsetting of an increase in revenues.

The resolution is mostly symbolic as it will be sent to the governor and state legislators, but not much has come of many other resolutions the county has sent to Madison. The board also approved a resolution declaring a disaster in the county after the severe storms that ripped through the county several times in July, including tornadoes up by Withee, causing extensive damage in some areas. This will make the county eligible for aid to offset the cost of fixing the damage. Finally, the board approved the issuance of a long list of tax deeds.
