Withee Couple Opening Culver's in Medford

(Marshfield News Herald) -As soon as this spring, people in Medford could have ButterBurgers and Culver's frozen custard right in their hometown.Steve and Rachel Lawrence plan to open a new Culver's restaurant at 909 Casement Court in Medford, the site of a former Happy Joe's Pizza & Ice Cream Parlor, Steve Lawrence said. It will likely open sometime between February and April, he said, depending on how quickly construction moves. Demolition at the site should begin in the next week or two, he said. The newly-minted Culver's franchise owners are doing a complete remodel of the building and parking lot. Culver's, the iconic Wisconsin-based fast-food brand, is known for its ButterBurgers and frozen custard, which always has a flavor of the day. The closest options for people in Medford are currently in Marshfield and Merrill, each just over 30 miles away. The Medford Culver's will be one in an area of Wisconsin that doesn't have many locations compared to the rest of the state.
There aren't any of the restaurants in the stretch between Merrill and the Eau Claire area, according to the company's website. The new Medford Culver's will employ about 50 people, Steve Lawrence said, and eight of those positions will be managerial. He'll begin hiring in November or December. While the couple hasn't yet chosen the hours for their Culver's, locations are typically open from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m., he said. Their restaurant will generally mirror those hours. Steve and Rachel Lawrence live in Withee, about 25 miles outside of Medford.
