Low Unemployment Means New Challenges and Opportunities

Monday, August 5th, 2019 -- 9:49 AM

(WRN) -Record low unemployment means new challenges for employers and new opportunities for workers.

Record low unemployment means new challenges for employers and new opportunities for workers. Department of Workforce Development Secretary Caleb Frostman says employers can't afford to simply post their position on a job site with the same pay they've had for years and hope to find workers.

"The companies that are filling their positions and retaining folks are being creating, inclusive and really aggressive at filling those spots."

Frostman says his department stands ready to help get workers to better, higher paying jobs both through job training as well as resume help.

"We're always looking to help upscale Wisconsin's workforce for the sake of our employers, but also for the workers themselves to make sure they can see commensurate wage growth with their skills gains."

Frostman says it's a good time for people to examine their current job and job wages, and consider checking out the job market.

"We want to help those folks, even those who are currently working, if they want to find additional work or higher pay work, we want to be there for those folks as well."

He says the Job Center Of Wisconsin is ready to help anyone who wants to brush up their resumes or find job training in their area.
