Marshfield Man Sentenced for High Speed Chase

Thursday, August 1st, 2019 -- 10:42 AM

-A Marshfield man arrested after a high speed chase was sentenced in Marathon County Court on Wednesday.

Back in July of 2018, authorities tried to stop Kyle Wendt near Spencer. Wendt ran from authorities traveling from Spencer all the way into Greenwood and running over two sets of spike strips before stopping. When he was finally stopped on the south end of Greenwood, he refused to get out of the vehicle and appeared to be reaching for something on his seat. Authorities eventually used a Taser on Wendt, pulled him from the vehicle and he still continued to resist arrest.

During his hearing on Wednesday, Wendt was found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, 5th or 6th OWI. Two other charges were dismissed and read in. He was sentenced to 2 years in prison and 4 years of extended supervision. He must also have complete sobriety, his license was revoked for 36 months and he must have an ignition interlock device for 36 months.
