RAPIDS BOY DIES OF RARE DISEASE

The Wisonsin Rapids Daily Tribune is reporting a month-old Rapids boy died after contracting a contagious bacterial blood disease.Dr. Bradley Sullivan, who treated the boy at the Marshfield Clinic, said those that had contact with the baby have been treated to prevent infection.
Elijah Voight, born on New Year's Day at Riverview Hospital, died Saturday at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, the result of a condition that can lead to meningitis. The disease occurs around 2,000 to 3,500 each year in the United States, but is fatal only 15 percent of the time.
