-The Clark County Emergency Management Department has released some information on the severe weather that moved through our area two weekends ago.Severe Thunderstorms moved through Clark County during the evening hours of Friday, July 19th and again during the morning hours on Saturday, July 20th. The storms on Friday night produced two Tornadoes near Withee along with significant straight line wind damage in the northern portion of the County. Downed trees and power lines caused power outages and there was residential and agricultural damage as well. Highway 13 north of Abbotsford was closed for approximately 18 hours due to downed trees and power lines. Saturday morning storms moved through areas of primarily central and southern Clark County with additional tree and power line damage. Reports were received of trees causing damage to vehicles as well as a semi unit which is believed to have been blown over on Highway 95 as a result of the strong winds.
Municipalities continue to work to clear debris from streets and roads and damage estimates are being put together for costs associated with the storm cleanup and damage to public property. Current public sector damage expenses are over $150,000.00 and are expected to rise. Residents who experienced damage are reminded to report that damage by calling 2-1-1. Also, be sure to contact your insurance provider to determine what your coverage includes. Currently, there are no damage totals for residential and private property damages available.
