Owen City Council Approves New Comprehensive Plan

-The Owen City Council reviewed their 2019-2040 Comprehensive Plan at their meeting last week.The City of Owen was awarded the $12,500 Community Development Block Grant for the update of the Comprehensive Plan in the fall of 2018. As part of the federal government requirements tie to this grant, Owen must hold two public hearings to gather citizens’ input. The first public hearing was held before the application of the grant in May of 2018 and the one last Tuesday was their second one. As identified in the grant application, Owen is using the CDBG funding to update their current comprehensive plan. The update contains these nine required elements required by Wisconsin State Statute 66.1001 including Issues & Opportunities Element; Housing Element and a Transportation Element.
The other elements include Utilities & Community Facilities Element; Agricultural, Natural, & Cultural Resources Element; Economic Development Element; Intergovernmental Cooperation Element; Land Use Element; and Implementation Element. No questions were asked, so the hearing was closed and the council approved the City of Owen’s 2019-2040 Comprehensive Plan as recommended by the Planning Committee in Resolution 2019-04. In addition, as a separate project, they will be working with the Zoning Committee to update their Zoning map.
