Neillsville City Council Approves Amended Resolution for Sewer Hook-Up

Thursday, July 25th, 2019 -- 10:18 AM

-The Neillsville City Council approved a few items at their meeting on Tuesday.

The council approved amending a resolution regarding limiting sewer hook-ups. This is because the new Marshfield Medical Center Campus being built in Neillsville will need to hook up to the city’s wastewater system once the new facility is built, but an old ordinance would not have allowed them to do so. This item was first approved during the Public Works portion of the meeting and then again during the Common Council. The board also approved the appropriation of the Rotary Club donation and approved several hanging basket donations. The council also heard several committee reports. The council heard the Beautification Committee report from their meeting on July 9th. They discussed ideas for landscaping for Prock Park. They agreed to design a sign first and then build the landscaping around the sign. They will reach out to JBC for the sign. They also discussed the banner designs they received and selected Chris Keller as the summer winner. No winter design was chosen and they thank everyone that submitted a design.

The council also reviewed the Police and Fire Commission report from their meeting on July 15th. At this meeting, they selected Mark Rohloff as the new Police Chief for the City of Neillsville. He will take the oath of office on August 1st. The council also heard the Library Board report from their meeting on July 16th. They summer program is going well and the new air conditioners were installed. They also approved a new policy regarding unattended children and tabled an author visit until their next meeting. They also selected their officers and accepted a donation. Finally, they head the Heritage Days Committee report from their meeting on July 18th. They discussed the Miss Neillsville Program, kids’ games, the golf outing, events and ideas and opinions on those events and Heritage Days 2020.
