-A Lublin man charged for the vandalizing of a church here in the City of Neillsville appeared in Clark County Court on Thursday.According to a press release from the Neillsville Police Department, at the end of February, officers were called to St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Black River Road due to vandalism that occurred there during the late night/early morning hours. When officers arrived, they discovered several religious statues and wall hangings that had been severely damaged throughout much of the church and worship area. No injuries were reported, but damage to church property was significant. After an investigation and a tip regarding a person of interest, Seth Meier of Lublin was arrested.
According to court records, Meier had allegedly joined a cult. Witnesses say he was also speaking in demonic voices while he was vandalizing the church. Meier is being charged with burglary of a building or dwelling and criminal damage to religious property. During his preliminary hearing, probable cause was found so his court proceedings will continue. He entered a not guilty plea to the charges against him. He’s scheduled to be back in court August 29th.
