Medford Woman Sentenced for Theft of a Business Setting

-A Medford woman charged with theft of a business setting after stealing from the restaurant where she worked appeared in Taylor County Court on Wednesday.According to court records, an investigation began after management noticed a high number of voided transactions during Jamie Johnson’s shift, including 15 back-to-back voided transactions that totaled almost $200 on January 11th of this year. Investigators said the restaurant’s records showed there were $14,536 in voided sales in 2015, $19,869 in 2016, $29,760 in 2017 and already $652 in 2018. In all, Johnson stole more than $64,000 from the restaurant.
Johnson was terminated and, during her court appearance on Wednesday, she was found guilty of theft of a business setting. Another charge was dismissed and read in. She was sentenced to five years of probation with a condition of 15 days jail time. She must also pay back the restaurant for the money she stole.
