COSTLY UPGRADES AT STANLEY PRISON
Monday, January 31st, 2005 -- 11:01 AM
The Stanley Prison was privately built with no contract from the state, but the state bought it anyway, and now they?re paying for some deficiencies. In fact, officials say around $1-million in upgrades are needed. That money will go toward upgrading a failing heating system, roof, windows and sidewalks. Warden Dan Benik says many of the problems could not have been predicted before the state purchased the facility. Since purchasing the facility back in 2001, the state has made around $7-million in upgrades.Feel free to contact us with questions and/or comments.
