Administrators' Reports at Owen-Withee School Board Meeting
Sunday, July 14th, 2019 -- 6:42 AM
-The Owen-Withee School Board heard the Administrators’ Reports at their meeting on Monday.Elementary Principal Lance Batchelor gave a wrap up of the three weeks of summer school that concluded on June 30th. He offered kuddos and thanks to the teachers, aides, food service, support staff and bus drivers who made the three week session a success. The elementary PBIS and PLC Leadership teams have been meeting this summer. Ideas on how to best meet the needs of students and staff for the coming school year are being discussed. Jr/Sr High School Dean of Student Julie Van Ark reported that she and the PLC Leadership team will be attending the First Conference in Fond du Lac July 31st-August 2nd and establishing school goals for the 19-20 school year will be a main focus. She also alerted the board to changes in how Homeroom will be handled in the coming school year and the addition of Academic Support time during homeroom.
Finally, District Administrator Bob Houts surveyed the Board Teacher Negotiation team about available dates for a meeting to discuss the items the teachers have brought forward. The team will meet on Tuesday, July 9th to discuss. He also discussed the things he learned about meetings and closed session after the June meeting. Highlights include that the meeting minutes become a public record as soon as they are created, rather than when they are approved by the board and that while the minutes of a closed session can be vague, any vote taken in closed session must be a roll call vote.
