Insurance Options at Owen City Council Meeting

-The Owen City Council discussed insurance options at their meeting on Tuesday.A representative from Teamcare presented information on the union’s health insurance. The council approved moving forward with looking into the option in more detail. A Finance Committee meeting will be scheduled with a representative from Teamcare available at that time, also. The council tabled the June 2019 Treasurer’s Report until their next July Council meeting due to some needed changes. The Quarterly Payroll Report was presented and some questions regarding the former clerk’s roll with the city were answered. A representative from Cedar Corporation was also on hand to clarify the final pay request from McCabe Construction. Cedar Corps engineers estimated the cost of the 10th Street Project at $161,850.00.
The accepted bid for this project was $148,030.25. With the final payment of $29,288.58, the total construction cost to the City for the East 10th St Project was $144,926.75, $3,103.50 under bid. The council approved the bid. The council also accepted the resignation of two public works employees and to post an employment ad for both positions. Finally, during the public opinion portion of the meeting, a resident inquired about some work being done next to his residence.
