Greenwood School Board Discusses Employment Matters

-The Greenwood School Board discussed employment matters at their meeting on Monday.The board approved the resignations of 1st grade teacher Val Krall and Science Teacher Megan Melcher. The board approved the employment of Tina Feiten as a Special Education teacher, Jami Hodowanic as a grade 6 teacher, Stacia Jacoby as a Grade 2 teacher, Wendy Lambrecht as the Business Education teacher and Julie Plautz as a Grade 1 teacher. The board also approved five volunteers and, during the communication from the public portion of the meeting, a resident suggest the district partner with local school districts more. The board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. The board heard the CESA 10 Report, which stated they are also being challenged to recruit and retain staff. District Administrator Todd Felhofer reported on the 2019-21 Biennial State Budget.
It was passed and signed by the governor. Evers did use his line-item veto to change and remove some items. Overall, the budget was fairly positive for education and they are still waiting to receive all the specific budget numbers. On June 23rd, the window safety film was installed on the main entrance door windows at the high school and on exit doors 3 and 4 at the elementary school. This was part of the Safety Grant. Progress continues to be made in reducing the number of D and F grades received by students. Camp Invention week was awesome. The last 2 weeks of summer school began on Monday.
