(WRN) -A bill heading through the Legislature would ensure health insurance for the families of slain peace officers. The bill would require that local municipalities pay for health premiums for the families of law enforcement officers who die in the line of duty. Assembly Speaker Robin Vos wants to extend that coverage to the State Patrol as well.
The state currently provides this sort of benefit to the families of fallen firefighters, and Vos says it's time to respect police families in the same manner.
