General Transportation Aid Quarterly Payments Received

Governor Tony Evers announced that local governments received quarterly payments last week totaling $145,978,567 for General Transportation Aids, Connecting Highway Aids and Expressway Policing Aids from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.The budget the Governor signed last week, provides an historic 10 percent funding increase ($66 million over the biennium) for general transportation aids, paid to counties, towns, villages, and cities. The increase will be paid to local governments beginning January 2020. General Transportation Aids help defray the costs of constructing, maintaining, and operating roads and streets under local jurisdiction. July payments to Wisconsin’s 1922 local units of government include: $142,706,717 in General Transportation Aids.

Clark County $388,671.22 - City of Neillsville $38,022.29
Jackson County $442,867.26 - City of Black River Falls $60,273.33
Wood County $1,097,212.52 - City of Marshfield $350,320.33
The funding sources of these aid payments are the fuel taxes and vehicle registration fees collected by the state.
