Osseo Man Appears in Court for Stealing Vehicle with Service Dog Inside

-An Osseo man charged with stealing a vehicle that had a service dog inside while he was intoxicated appeared in Eau Claire County Court on Tuesday.According to court records, back in December, a vehicle was stolen from a private lot on Barstow Street in Eau Claire while the owner was in a restaurant. The owner used a cellphone app to track the vehicle to a parking lot behind Scooter’s Bar on Galloway Street. Nathan Hakes was found inside the bar with the dog. Hakes said he didn’t steal the vehicle or the dog despite eyewitness claims that say otherwise.
Hakes has been charged with OWI-2nd, operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent and dognapping. He entered a not guilty plea to the charges against him during his arraignment on Tuesday.
