(WRN) -Senator Ron Johnson vows to help asylum-seekers.The Wisconsin Republican tells C-N-N he wants more people to be able to claim refugee status in their own countries. He also says the U.S. needs more legal immigrants. Johnson is the chair of the Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee.
The Republican-controlled Senate passed a bill addressing the migrant crisis, but it clashes with what House Democrats approved. Senate Republicans say they’re not interested in reconciling the legislation.
