Marshfield Man Sentenced for 6th OWI

Wednesday, June 26th, 2019 -- 10:26 AM

(Hub City Times) -A Marshfield man will spend three years in state prison for an unusual OWI arrest.

Thirty-eight-year-old Christopher Meyer will be in state prison for three years and on probation for five years for his sixth OWI. He will also spend nine months in a local jail for a count of resisting or obstructing an officer. Conditions of Meyer’s sentence include having his license revoked for three years, absolute sobriety, and paying any court fees and fines. The charges stem from a January incident in the village of Spencer where Meyer was pulled over for speeding and leading police on a chase along portions of State Highway 13. When Meyer did pull over, police found an open container of beer in his cup holder.

Meyer refused field sobriety tests during the stop, but eventually agreed to one at the Spencer Police Department. When he was handcuffed and placed into the squad car, Meyer asked the officer if the two could, “work out a deal”. The officer declined and Meyer then told the officer he should “watch his back” because Meyer “has people watching.” Meyer failed his sobriety test. When he was taken to Marshfield Medical Center for a chemical blood test, Meyer became combative, kicking, yelling, and wedging his foot in the door of the squad car.
