Neillsville Residents Need to Be Aware of Scam

-Neillsville residents need to be aware of a scam that may be making its way around the area again.A resident of the Neillsville area contacted me and said they received a call on their cell phone from an individual claiming to be with the government and stating the person has been randomly selected to receive a $9,000 grant. The caller then asked the resident for their information in order to send them the money. The call allegedly came from the Chicago, Illinois area. The resident who received the call kept asking questions, knowing it was scam, and the caller eventually got fed up and swore before hanging up.
This scam is fairly common one and you can Google “$9,000 grant scam” and it will provide you with information on the scam and even the script a scammer will follow if they’re trying to get you to fall for it. Area residents should be diligent if they receive a call like this and make sure you don’t provide your information.
