(WRN) -Legislative Republicans have scheduled votes on their version of the budget , and Governor Evers says the Democrat plan is still in the cards.Governor Evers held a press conference to discuss a new report showing that Wisconsinites will be paying 2 billion dollars over the next two years to help other states with their Medicaid expansion programs. Evers says he still can't understand why Republicans won't take that money for Wisconsin.
"I don't know about you but I think it is time to bring those dollars back to Wisconsin to fund healthcare right here."
Evers says says his now rejected proposal to raise the gas tax and index it into the future was a better plan than raising fees on licenses.
"That's why after years of neglect, we proposed a sustainable and also sensible solution on transportation that will allow us to fix the damn roads in Wisconsin."
Evers told reporters he's not able to answer that just yet.
"We still don't know what the entire budget is. It sounds like the Senate is having problems. So once we know what the budget is I'll be able to answer that question."
Evers also says he's not going to be making any decisions on possible vetoes on the Republican budget until after they pass it out of the Legislature. A clean vote on the budget is looking a little shaky, as two Republican Senators have already spoken out against the plan.
