Second Wisconsin Republican Says No on Republican's Version of the Budget

(AP) -A second Republican Wisconsin state senator says he will vote against the GOP-written budget, leaving Republicans with no room to spare to pass the two-year spending plan in its current form.Sen. David Craig, of Big Bend, told conservative talk show host Jay Weber on WISN-AM on Thursday that he is a “no” vote on the budget. Craig joins Republican Sen. Steve Nass, who announced his opposition on Wednesday. That leaves Republicans with the bare minimum 17 votes needed to pass the budget. Republicans re-worked Democratic Gov. Tony Evers’ spending plan over the past several months, passing their version out of committee last week.
But Craig and Nass say it still spends too much money. The Senate is scheduled to take up the budget next week, after the Assembly.
