Owen City Council Hears Community Development Authority's Report

-The Owen City Council heard the Community Development Authorities Report at their meeting last week.Director Tim Swiggum has been working with Heartland on the rail/water main issue. Tim also reported the financing for the city’s payment to Heartland for their rail spur is on schedule for mid-July. There was no word from Quality Roasting on their rail spur. A meeting of the Executive Committee for Farm Tech Days was held in Greenwood on June 17th. No decision has yet been reached as to the location of the 2022 Farm Tech Days. The DRC is also working on Car Show Vendors and the committee is looking for sponsors.
The Growin’ Owen committee is continuing to plant flowers around town as part of the city’s Beautification Project and they are looking for donated gardening tools. The House of Friends will be putting on the Chicken Dinner for the Owen Jr Fair. There were also be soccer games at Crowley Park the Saturday of the fair.
