New Police Commander in Adams County Accused of Inappropriate Behavior During his Time with the Marshfield Police Department

Friday, June 14th, 2019 -- 1:38 PM

(Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune) -A newly appointed police commander in Adams County was accused of inappropriate behavior during his time with the Marshfield Police Department.

Adams Police Commander Scott Schlei, who has held his position since Jan. 1, is a former member of the department in Marshfield, where he was the subject of two internal investigations in 2016, according to documents obtained by USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin at the time. He resigned from his position in Marshfield after he was accused of lying and was found to have violated city policy after making sexually charged comments.

Schlei had worked with the department for 17 years. Despite the past misconduct allegations, Adams Mayor Roberta Pantaleo, who was first elected in April, said the city is pleased with Schlei's performance as police commander so far.
