-A Spencer woman facing charges for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy multiple times appeared in Marathon County Court on Thursday.According to court records, Linda Habhegger, said she would watch the boy from time to time and even considered herself a mother or aunt figure to the boy. Habhegger, who said she was sexually abused as a child, admitted to authorities she had sex with the boy multiple times at her home between July and September. She said she told the boy he wouldn’t get into trouble. She also told authorities that she didn’t think she did anything wrong.
Habhegger has been charged with three counts of second degree sexual assault of a child. During her court appearance on Thursday, her competency was brought up by her lawyer, so the judge ordered a competency evaluation. A jury trial scheduled for July was cancelled. She’s scheduled to be back in court on August 2nd. If the court proceedings continue normally and she’s convicted and sentenced to the maximum amount, she could face up to 120 years in prison.
