One of Three People Facing Arson Charges in Marshfield Appears in Wood County Court

Thursday, June 13th, 2019 -- 11:34 AM

-One of three people charged with arson for allegedly starting a fire at a Marshfield mobile home park appeared in Wood County Court on Wednesday.

According to court records, 47-year-old Tracy Hoover owned the mobile home where the fire took place, and had asked two others to set the fire. Hoover was apparently being evicted from the park, and court records say the manager told police Hoover said she’d rather burn the house down than allow the park to get it. Police say 26-year-olds Taylor Dickman and Eric Foth started the fire in a bedroom with matches. Police say Foth admitted to starting the fire with Dickman, and the two claim Hoover told them to start it. According to court documents, Hoover was attempting to get insurance money for the loss of her belongings and the mobile home.

During her court appearance on Wednesday, Hoover waived her preliminary hearing and entered a not guilty plea to the charge against her, which is arson of a building with intent to defraud. She’s scheduled to be back in court on August 15th.
