Saying Goodbye to Shopko

-The end of an era is near as Shopko prepares to close its remaining stores by June 23rd.According to documents filed in March in U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Shopko was unable to find a buyer for its “go-forward business.” So, Shopko will close its remaining stores including stores in Rothschild, Marshfield, Wisconsin Rapids, Adams, Eagle River, Neillsville, Park Falls, Stanley, Tomahawk, Wautoma, Wausau and others.
The Ashwaubenon-based retailer sold its pharmacy service to Kroeger and its optical service will continue in select locations as well. Shopko was founded in Green Bay in 1962. The company had stores in 24 states.
