(WDLB) -Marshfield officials will apply for available state funding to get two new minivans for its shared-ride taxi service. The Common Council last night voted in favor of requesting grant dollars from the State Department of Transportation to help cover the lion’s share of two ADA-compliant minivans, which City Administrator Steve Barg said would replace two vans that are currently not in service.
To get the state funding, Barg said all the city needs to do is submit a letter to the Federal Transit Administration showing support for the state’s grant application, while confirming that local money would cover the rest if state dollars are received.
Barg said the city would need to commit to the city’s share of the funding in next year’s budget. Right now the city is down two handicapped-accessible minivans ??" one because of an accident, and one that was not previously replaced. Barg was not sure when the city would receive the new vehicles.
