Miss Neillsville Application Deadline Tomorrow, Miss Neillsville Explains Why You Should Run

Friday, June 7th, 2019 -- 11:59 AM

-The Miss Neillsville program has extended the deadline for taking applications for the Miss Neillsville Court.

I spoke with Miss Neillsville, Teeghan Mahoney, and a member of her court, Vanessa Zickert about the Miss Neillsville Program. Teeghan and Vanessa said their time in the court has been eye opening.

Teeghan: “It’s definitely been an eye opener for me. When I first started I was very nervous and very scared to say anything in front of people. But now I’m fine talking in front of crowds and introducing myself to people.”

Vanessa: “I’ve definitely become more confident as well and it’s so nice to getting out of our community and representing Miss Neillsville and our town in other communities and giving back to the community as well.”

They offered this advice to those that may be considering running for Miss Neillsville.

Teeghan: “If they’re planning on running, they should go for it! As I said, it’s been a big eye opener for me in regards to the community service and everything we do for the Neillsville community. It’s pretty impressive and it looks good for your college applications as well.”

Vanessa: “I’d encourage them to run too. You become more confident as a person and you grow so much. It it feels good to give back and it just makes me feel good as a person.”

Teeghan and Vanessa talked about some of the fun they had on the court.

Teeghan: “Warrens was very amazing! There were a whole bunch of princesses and queens that we met from all over Wisconsin. I think there were some from Michigan too. I can’t tell you how many there were, but it was a glittering picture!”

Vanessa: “I think every parade is very fun, especially being around the littles and their animal noises! It was fun to be a role model for them too.”

Michelle Mitte, the head of the program, encouraged those who may be considering running to go for it.

“There is a scholarship available. We do have that application deadline extended. Even if you don’t have a sponsor yet, just get the paperwork into me and we’ll deal with the rest later. And like they said, just go for it! It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity that they’re not going to want to miss out on. I don’t want anyone, six months from now, wishing they would have done it. Just do it! It’s so worth it! These girls have grown so much and I’m so impressed with all of them. Our program just keeps getting better and better and we’re looking for girls to have a lot of fun this year and it’s worth it!”

Once again, the deadline for the application is this Saturday, June 8th.
