Owen City Council Reviews Budget Comparison

Wednesday, June 5th, 2019 -- 7:43 AM

-The Owen City Council looked at a budget comparison at their meeting last week.

A question was brought up as to why the electric bill was so high for City Hall. The city clerk will investigate the issue. She will also find out what entailed the amount in the water supplies & expenses account and what the repairs to the Water Plant Emergences Program were as they are already over budget for these accounts. The chair of the Parks and Rec Committee also provided a report. The space for Volleyball Courts is available if ever there is sufficient interest. The Trail Grant came through and everything north of the Mill Pond will be paved along with the stretch behind Dollar General.

The committee drew up a list of future projects for Crowley Park including a sand box with diggers, playground equipment, a pavilion and grills. This list would be available for people or organizations wishing to donate to the Park. The council approved accepting the estimate of $31,986 from Brubaker Construction for the renovation of the Crowley Park bathrooms. Donated monies will be used for this project, not city money.
