Lucky Farmer Receives New Rollover Protective Structure

Thursday, May 23rd, 2019 -- 8:45 AM

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -One lucky farmer who's name was selected in a drawing for a free rollover protective structure had his International 766 retrofitted with the new safety device.

Glen Wendt signed up for the contest at Wisconsin Farm Technology Days last year, where McMillan-Warner Mutual Insurance Company of Marshfield and the National Farm Medicine Center were promoting the Wisconsin ROPS Rebate Program. Wendt and his brother, Jack, farm together on the same operation established by their father. He had the installation done by Cherokee Garage of Colby.

Tractor overturns are the leading cause of farm-related deaths in the U.S. That's why it's important that each tractor have a ROPS, according to the NFMC. The Wisconsin ROPS Rebate Program reimburses tractor owners up to 70 percent, a maximum of $865, toward the total cost of purchasing, shipping and installing individual ROPS.
