NEW LA CROSSE BISHOP NAMED
Wednesday, December 29th, 2004 -- 11:26 AM
Area Catholics have a new leader. Today, Pope John Paul II named Jerome E. Listecki, an auxiliary bishop of Chicago, as the ninth bishop for the Roman Catholic diocese of La Crosse. He succeeds Raymond Burke, who was named last December as archbishop of St. Louis and installed in that position in January. Listecki is 55-years-old. The Diocese of La Crosse is home to more than 200,000 Catholics in 19 counties in West Central Wisconsin; it stretches from Prairie Du Schein in the southwest to Wausau in the Northeast.Feel free to contact us with questions and/or comments.
