Owen-Withee School Board Hears Administrators' Reports

-The Owen-Withee School Board heard the Administrators’ Reports at their meeting last week.

Elementary Principal Lance Batchelor reported on summer school registration being finalized. The session will start on June 10th and run for the 3 weeks of June. Fourth grade students did their annual field trip to Madison on May 10th, while the 3rd grade will be going to Green Bay on May 16th. The spring Accelerated Reader trip to Eau Claire will be on May 24th. The CORE Reading Committee is researching reading programs with possible implementation in 2019-20 or 2020-21. Mrs. Lenz’s 2nd grade class wrote persuasive letters to various people this year. One of the letters, written by Teddy Van Ark, was written to the board who read it during the meeting. Jr/Sr High School Dean of Student Julie Van Ark reported that Community Service Day was May 15th and the Junior High Recognition Dinner was the same evening.

The Senior Banquet will be May 22nd, with graduation May 25th at 10:00 AM. Final exams for students will be held on May 30th and 31st. Teachers will stay until 7:30pm on May 31st or return for 4 hours on Monday, June 3rd. Payton Ackerman, a seventh grade student, took 4th place in the statewide American Legion Auxiliary Americanism Essay Contest. Julie Ducommun, a sophomore, earned 1st place in the local American Legion Auxiliary Poppy Poster Contest. Her poster moves on to the state level.
