(AP) -The Wisconsin Republican Party has released a report detailing internal operational problems during the 2018 campaign. The 15-page report released Monday faulted the party for outsourcing too much work to consultants and ignoring the grassroots. The report was conducted by U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson and other top Republicans. Johnson plans to discuss its findings at the state party convention this weekend. Johnson says in a cover letter that the key to improvement is empowering and engaging with grassroots Republicans.
He also says the state party must do more to help county parties recruit and train volunteers and candidates. Republicans have been reviewing what went wrong last year to result in every Republican candidate, including then-Gov. Scott Walker, being defeated.
