The Neillsville City Council discussed the parking ordinance at their recent meeting.
City Attorney Bonnie Wachsmuth stated the ordinance is drafted based on a listing of streets provided by the Director of Public Works. Council Member Dan Clough stated they should make mention that areas j, k, l and m can be issued parking permits. The council did approve adopting the ordinance. City Clerk Rex Roehl stated that in October the city was asked to review the City of Neillsville portion of the Clark County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan 2020-2025. For the City to be eligible for FEMA funding for mitigation projects the city has to adopt the following resolution, which the council approved. City Clerk Roehl also reported on receiving a $2,500 donation from the Marguerite Listeman Foundation for Listeman Park Tennis Court lights. The council approved the donation.
Finally, Council Member Clough proposed that the city employees that work in City Hall, the Police Department and Neillsville Library be given city parking passes as a part of their compensation. Council Member Joe Neville stated that you have to identify these employees. Council Member Julie Counsell stated that not all employees at the Library need a parking pass as they work part-time with few hours. It was suggested leaving it up to the department heads. In the end, the council did approve issuing parking passes to city employees at City Hall, the Police Department and Neillsville Library with employee eligibility as determined by their supervising department head.
