Clark County Tourism Committee Discusses Many Topics

Thursday, May 16th, 2019 -- 12:53 PM

-The Clark County Tourism Committee heard updates and discusses several projects at their meeting on Wednesday.

The committee discussed the Fall Harvest Moon Tour. The consensus among the group is that some changes need to be made to the event. Some ideas floated around included shortening the time, offering more of an incentive for people to participate and other items. The committee also heard an update from The Highground. The Highground has many events coming up, they continue to work to improve awareness of the park and they’re continuing to work on the future of the park in regards to many different aspects. The committee also heard an update on the Friends of the Black River’s clean-up effort at the end of April and the continuing progress of the Rails-to-Trails Project.

The committee also heard updates from the Forestry and Parks Department. The trails system is now open and the campgrounds are opening as well with site reservations filling up fast. The committee also looked over some tourism and housing numbers and they heard a recap of the Spring into the Arts Tour, Bloomin’ Greenhouses and the Business-to-Business Expo and Career Fair.
