Spencer School District Waiting on Funding Word from FEMA for Referendum Projects

-The Spencer School District is waiting on a decision regarding funding from FEMA for their upcoming projects.A referendum was passed by Spencer residents during the April Election. The projects include softball field reconstruction, school safety upgrades, music and athletic department upgrades, and a dome construction. The dome structure would act as a tornado shelter for the community to use, one of the only ones in the area for residents who may not have a basement or live in a mobile home to use.
The project has a price tag of $5,980,000 and, due to the storm shelter part of the project, some funds would have come from FEMA. They had said they would provide an answer in early May, but that has now been pushed back to late May. The project would continue even without the FEMA funding.
