-The Granton Village Board heard the Water Report at their meeting last week.

According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, Chlorine and Bac T samples were taken, 1st quarter readings were completed for billing and a possible water leak on Main Street turned out to be just water run-off. Also, spring road clean-up has begun and equipment maintenance included the repair of a broken plow, changed oil in the tractor and changed rims on the back of the dump truck. Park clean-up and prep work for the ball season is underway and that included putting out garbage bins, replaced the score box door, turned on the water, repaired the toilet, and replaced the freezer. The board also heard the Waste Water Report. The lift station basket was cleaned, Ferric was added to pond 3 to drop the phosphorous levels so discharge could begin and they put the pontoon in pond 1 to clean out the filter. Also, a resident at 450 W. Hill wants a culvert installed in preparation for a new driveway. The resident will be charged for materials. Cemetery clean up included raking pine needles and leaf and branch collection. Finally, the ball diamond was prepped and is ready for the season, the aerator in the pond has been removed and a curb stop needs to be installed at 333 South Main.

Finally, the board heard the Clerk’s Report. Utility bills were completed and sent out on March 29th and the cross connection pamphlet and quarterly news letters were included in the mailing. 31 late notices were sent out on April 22nd. Also, the village did not receive the 4th quarter DOT payment. The DOT was contacted and a direct deposit of the missing funds was received. Also, both Federal and State quarterly reports were filed and the spring election was on April 2nd. They received and inspected election materials and ballots and processed all absentee ballots. Two employees were also signed up for the free safety class in WI Rapids on April 18th, which ended up getting cancelled due to a winter storm. The clerk filed the annual DNR Recycling Grant and sent out a donation letter with requests to help stock the trout ponds. The village also received a $100 donation from Wild Life Federation for stocking the trout pond. Finally, they sent out a Building Permit Applications as they received digger hotline tickets to both locations indicating excavation and no Building Permits are on file.
