Granton Village Board Discusses Romadka Avenue
Monday, April 29th, 2019 -- 9:49 AM
-The Granton Village Board heard an update on the care of Romadka Avenue at their meeting last week.According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, the Town of Grant and the village agreed on a maintenance fee of $1,500 for the next 2 years for the care of Romadka Ave and Granton Road. This will include all mowing, grading, plowing and ditching. After the 2 years, Grant will let the village know if the cost will go up at least 3 months in advance. The maintenance agreement was discussed but no changes were made at this time since Grant will be caring for the entire road. The board also heard an update from the Granton First Responders. They responded to 105 calls in 2018 with the majority of calls in the Grant Township. Their annual expense was $9,137. The income from the townships and villages in 2018 was $13,500. Also reported was the purchase of a new used ambulance from Neillsville for $20,000. This was paid for out of the fund balances. The village budgeted $1,500 for 2019 and this was paid directly to the responders. Finally, the board heard information regarding some sidewalk at the Spaete Building.
They would like to build a gravel ramp the entire length of the Spaete building on the north side, starting at the building and extending across the side walk to the edge of the road and, when asked what would be driving on the ramp, it was advised that they do not know yet. The clerk advised that there is currently no building permit on file for that and that they are still deciding what is going to be done. The clerk advised that allowing a ramp, built across the side walk and into the village right of way, may not be in the village’s best interest and that perhaps waiting until they know what the ramp is going to be used for may be the way to handle this. It was also noted that this sidewalk extends 2 blocks and allowing a ramp to extend over the sidewalk would block side walk travel. It was noted people can walk on the road and go around it. In the end, the project was approved by the board.
