(WRN) -Congressman Ron Kind says he is pushing for an end to the Trump Administration's trade war before permanent damage is done to the economy.Congressman Ron Kind says he is pushing for an end to the Trump Administration's trade war before permanent damage is done to the economy. He says a perfect example is Harley Davidson, which considering massive changes to their operations in order to deal with tariffs.
"Harley Davidson is facing huge tariff barriers to sell their bikes in the European Union, and so they have to think about moving a product line over there to avoid the tariffs the president created himself."
Kind says it's unfair to have these tariffs in place, and then have the President complain and bully companies like Harley Davidson when they consider changes to their business.
"I don't know if he doesn't realize it or if he doesn't care, but the fact that he's willing to browbeat all these businesses is another example of why his policies aren't working for the people of Wisconsin."
Kind says that it's Wisconsin's small businesses and farmers that are feeling the pinch of the Trump Administration's trade war, and that something has to be done.
"I'm working virtually every week with the President's trade team trying to find some resolution to his trade war that's doing damage to our farmers and manufacturers and workers here in Wisconsin."
Kind is introducing a pair of bills, the Trade Security Act and the Congressional Trade Authority Act that would put the power of trade authority back into the hands of Congress, rather with with the Executive Branch.
