(WDLB) -A well-documented Marshfield story has now been featured on national television. The city's now-famous garbage can canines were featured last night on the latest episode of the long-running CBS news program "Inside Edition". Chief investigative correspondent Lisa Guerrero visited Marshfield for the segment on April 1. Her first stop was the Marshfield Area Pet Shelter, where she spoke with Executive Director Karen Rau. The "Inside Edition" crew also spoke with Marshfield Police Department Humane Officer Bob Larsen, who responded to the call after door-to-door salesman Mark Theobald found the puppies in a garbage bag inside a trash can on East Fourth Street February 28th. And surprisingly, Guerrero also caught up with Robert Wild, the man charged with throwing the puppies out with his trash.
Guerrero caught the 56-year-old Wild trying to sell, of all things, four-week-old puppies. He has pleaded innocent to Wood County charges of mistreatment and abandonment of animals. The Marshfield puppies were featured as part of a story that highlighted abandoned dogs and cats, in order to help raise awareness about the issue on a national level. If you missed last night's program, "Inside Edition" has posted the segment on its YouTube channel.
