The Highground Accepts Donation of 300 Acre Camp

-On March 9th, The Highground finalized the biggest gift in its history, a 300 acre camp.The camp brings the total acres of The Highground to 460 and adds a huge amount of new opportunities to provide services and programming for veterans and their families. Currently the camp, formerly known as the Wisconsin Adventure on Wheels, has been utilized for hunts for veterans and veterans with disabilities. The camp took 16 years to build to the level that it’s at currently. It includes, on only hunting opportunities, but electric campsites, a lodge, a stocked pond, roads throughout the park, trails and much more. The Highground has been holding their veterans’ retreats at this location for the last few years.
The Highground was stunned by this generous donation and a new committee has been put into place to see what’s next for the grounds and how to best utilize it to help in the mission of honoring, educating and healing. The committee has decided they will continue the running of the camp at this time under the previous leadership, but will start to examine how the camp can be utilized moving forward.
