(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -Another pair of agricultural cooperatives are looking to join forces. The boards of directors for the Marshfield-based ProVision Partners and Federation Cooperative of Black River Falls announced they are exploring a potential merger agreement. The co-ops said in a joint press release that board members with both groups unanimously voted to sign a Letter of Intent to evaluate such a unification. The news comes four years after ProVision Partners was formed in 2015 as a result of the merger between Harmony Country Cooperative and Central Wisconsin Cooperative. The organization also announced last fall they were looking at a possible merger with Premier Cooperative of Mount Horeb, but the deal never came to fruition.
In June 2012, the Federation Cooperative merged with Hixton Fairchild Farmers Co-op. With this came the Cheese Hut, Northfield Town Mart, Double T Quik Stop, and Fairchild C-Store. The official transition would not take place unless it is supported by a majority of members from both cooperatives through a mail-in ballot vote.
