(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -The general manager of the Madison-based FarmFirst Dairy Cooperative says his group is 'adamantly opposed' to the current Administration's proposal to close the U.S. southern border with Mexico.Jeff Lyon said in a statement that more than 20 years have been dedicated to increasing U.S. dairy export volumes to Mexico, building a strong trade relationship and a valuable channel of safe, quality food products for Mexicans and their families to enjoy. The co-op cited data from Informa Economics, which claims $2.50 is generated for every U.S. dollar invested in dairy exports to Mexico.
The President said he is considering the option of closing the border to reduce the number of people crossing into the U.S.
