Marshfield Police Looking for Man After High Speed Chase

Friday, March 29th, 2019 -- 10:56 AM

(Marshfield News Herald) -Police are searching for a man involved in a police chase that ended in a rollover crash Thursday night near Grant Elementary School.

The incident happened just after 9:20 p.m., when a vehicle fled from police after running a red light at the intersection of Doege Street and North Central Avenue, a Facebook Post from the Marshfield Police Department read. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver sped up and turned onto North Walnut Avenue. The vehicle then took off at a high rate of speed down the road before it crashed and rolled into a fence at Grant Elementary School, police said. A 28-year-old man was apprehended at the scene of the crash.

A second male in the vehicle during the incident was able to flee the scene and has not yet been located, police said. Police say the man was last seen headed southbound in the 1800 block of Sawyer Drive just after the crash. He is not believed to be armed or a danger to the public, police said. If you believe you see someone strange in your neighborhood or have a stranger come to your door you are asked to call 911, the police department said.
