Pay Attention and Slow Down in Construction Zones

(WRN) -The barrels are out, and construction is back in season across Wisconsin.Department of Transportation spokesman Rob Miller says it's a good reminder to put those cell phones down and keep everyone safe.
"People just need to keep their heads up and they need to stay focused on what's ahead of them at all times, but it's especially important in work zones."
Miller says a major cause for work zone crashes is people driving too fast for conditions.
"As motorists are approaching a work zone, they're going too fast and they're not able to react in time when traffic in front of them slows down or stops."
Miller says they want everyone to get home safely, and that requires awareness.
"When you see orange signs, when you see those orange construction barrels and barricades, that's a signal to slow down, be aware of what's happening in front of you, and just expect the unexpected."
Miller says people just need to take things slow and remember that roads crews just want to get home safely.
