The Clark County Board of Supervisors approved the sale of some county land in the Town of Mead at their meeting on Tuesday. The board approved the sale of 5.13 acres of land in the Town of Mead. The revenue expected from the sale is $9,234 plus surveying and recording fees. The board also approved to opt into the Smith Medical Partners Class Action Lawsuit. The case originates out of Lake County in Illinois. The defendants in the case allegedly sent fax advertisements to class members in violation of the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act, which forbids companies from doing that without expressed permission or without displaying a proper opt-out notice. Clark County had one fax number impacted by the lawsuit. They could receive up to $493.32 if a favorable outcome is reached. The board also approved the county’s investment policy and they approved designating April 8th through the 12th as Work Zone Awareness Week.
Finally, the board approved the ratification of the collective bargaining agreement between the county and the teamsters union. There will be no effect on the budget because this was already approved and included in the 2019 budget. 217 positions are impacted by the passing of the resolution. The board also approved the 2nd reading of an ordinance that has the Clark County Health Department become an agent of DATCP. This allows the county to perform the same checks and licensing as DATCP, but it is now more localized. A second ordinance reading was postponed until the next meeting.
