Neillsville School Board Approves Estimated Safety Grant Budget

Wednesday, March 20th, 2019 -- 10:38 AM

-The Neillsville School Board approved the estimated safety grant budget to begin work on the secure entrances for the facility at their meeting on Monday.

The district received bids for the safety improvements they would like to implement for the district. The total cost of all the bids/projects came to $176,218. However, those numbers are preliminary as it was stated there was some work the district and even some of the tech ed. classes could complete. Some of the bids also didn’t include the actual amount of time for labor, just an estimate. The district would be using the $92,000 they received from the school safety grants to help pay for the project. Not all parts of the project would necessarily be done and some parts could be done later, so the total cost would more than likely decrease.

The board also heard the Achievement Gap Reduction Report for grades K5-3rd for reading and math. Neillsville students performed well on the test in each grade, with the district performing above the 50th percentile in most cases.
